There’s nothing more fun than wandering through aisle after aisle of goodies in the Hoffman California Fabrics warehouse—and that’s exactly what I got to do last week! I fondled the fat quarter bundles, drooled over the bolts (don’t worry, they’re all safely wrapped in plastic!), and daydreamed about all the wonderful things I could make with ALL OF IT!

As it wasn’t mine for the taking, and my suitcase was already stuffed, I settled for taking a few pictures to entertain myself on the flight home. And really, it only seems fair to share a little of that eye candy with you!
It’s a busy place! The warehouse is always buzzing with activity. Orders of beautiful fabrics are lined up and waiting to be packed and shipped, while the customer service team fields questions from the front office. There’s plenty happening behind the scenes to get all those gorgeous fabrics into the hands of quilters.

Around another corner, I discovered multiple cutting counters covered with stacks (and stacks!) of fat quarters waiting to be cut, folded, and transformed into dazzling bundles. There’s something wonderfully satisfying about seeing all those colors and prints coming together. The whole place has a happy, energetic vibe that makes you want to jump right in and start creating!

I also came across pallets loaded with enormous rolls of fabric, ready to be double-rolled onto bolts before heading to the shelves. The crisscrossing arrangement of the rolls creates an amazing pattern all on its own. It’s practical, of course, but it’s also pretty spectacular to see! And now I’m curious: Just how many bolts can they get from a single roll? Inquiring quilters want to know!

This photo might not be the most glamorous of the bunch, but something about these stacks of bolts waiting for fabric caught my eye. Don’t you love the checkerboard pattern they create? The repeating shapes and lines have a geometric quality that makes me wonder if there’s a quilt design hiding in there somewhere.

It only makes sense to find surfboards hanging on the wall. After all, Hoffman California Fabrics has roots in the surfing industry, so there’s a little California beach culture woven into its history.
But what a fun surprise to discover a rack of fabric samples that coordinate with the boards! It’s a colorful reminder that inspiration can come from just about anywhere—even a surfboard display in a fabric warehouse.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little peek behind the scenes at Hoffman California Fabrics. It was a treat to wander through the warehouse, soak up all that color and creativity, and imagine the possibilities. Now, if only I could have brought a few extra bolts home in my suitcase!
